Hi there, sounds as though you've been through alot. May be worth looking at the cancer forum. Are you taking pain relief and do they work because if not go back to doc and tell him your struggling. Also have you tried lactulose meds to help your bowls? It helps to keep your stools soft to pass it through easier. I think we can all relate to how you are feeling right know regarding how you used to be healthy and now feeling frustrated because your life has stopped. Its something thats hard to deal with and the last thing you need on top of everything else is to get deppressed. Think about what you can do rather than what you can't do. Keep on going back to the docter if your worried that somethings not right and if he doesn't listen see a different one. I wish you good luck with everythiig and hope that you find someone thats had the same problem as yourself. X

Have you not been referred to appropriate specialities for help ? You say bowels are cut out do you have a colostomy? There are specialist nurses who deal with this and can help with good advice . Maybe referral to a dietician would help as well , a double appoint with your GP for discussion on meds to help with pain but also to assist reducing your chance of constipation and how to deal with it when it does occur. If the doc discussed cancer with you have they referred you to the cancer specialists docs and nurses and advice on groups with whom you can relate to ? A lot of questions I know normally these teams see patients before discharge . It's unusual to have extensive surgery without being seen by those to assist in recovery and to answer a lot of questions naturally you'll want answered.

Movecol can make you soft or completely runny. tMI maybe but it gives you the control over what you can manage. Increase doses to make softer and reduce to make firmer. If you are struggling to eat get some special shakes from chemist to help keep your energy levels up! They are nutritionally balanced and can give you the essentials you need. Depending on what part of the bowel was removed can affect the water levels into the stool.

My mum lived of boiled or baked potatoes and fish cooked in milk for ages after her surgery for an 8 lb endometrial tumour.

Read 'The Journey' by Brandon Bays who had a tumour the size of a football in her abdomen. She cured herself in around 6 weeks, i think but that was over 12 years ago and it hasnt returned.
