Can't sleep - neuro pain 😔

Hi everyone

I am finding it do hard to sleep tonight and feeling like I am getting no where with my health. For those of you I don't know I am 30 years old and suffer from chronic pelvic pain, IBS and now an anxiety disorder due to the pain. 😔

I feel so confused as docs are saying they thing I have neuro pain where my nerves system tells my brain I am in pain for no reason. I don't understand how I will ever get better if my nerves signals are all going mad inside my body. This in turn has now developed into me having a fear and anxiety disorder as worry about what will happen if I get sore and I am in a different place etc.

Anyone else feel like this or am I losing my mind? Xxx

    You are not alone in thinking this way , I developed pelvic pain ( pudendal neuralgia) a year ago its life consuming ! i struggle badly with anxiety and fear which increases the pain , everything in life I took for granted seems impossible tasks . I just want to be my old self again full of life and happy , sorry for negative reply , take care yourself

  • If you click on to 'my communities' there is a box which says something like all communities.

    Go in there and a box you can typr in Pelvic Pain. Takes you to their forum.

    Don't worry - I've been a member for years and still finding my way around!

  • What you are describing is quite common. Have you tried Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)? It may sound useless using a talking therapy to deal with pain, but it really does help break the mental cycles that aggravate it. And even if psychological methods of pain relief only bring the pain down one point on the scale, sometimes thats enough to be the difference between coping with it and not coping with it.

    They thought I had that type of pain but in abdomen

    In fact I did but I managed to get the Dr to continue investigating and they found the cause but still can't do anything about it . The pain clinic put me on pregabalin for nerve pain and it was brilliant and side effect was I felt calmer and slept better also years after I have cymbalta which affect nerve pain . However the pain clinic opened up alsort of different different methods of pain management

  • Really Need to get to a Pain clinic. There are various treatment options out there like other postings have said. Pregabalin is an anti-neuropathic and it helps the anxiety because it is also used for general anxiety disorder. Although anxiety from pain is not general it is specific and genuine - we understandably feel anxious about the future living in constant pain. However, chronic pain has to be taken one day at a time but you will need correct pain management programme from a pain clinic to understand how to do this. As the other postings say there are specific communities on this website that deal with chronic neuropathic pain.

  • Are you getting enough sleep? Lack of enough sleep will increase pain and discomfort. Lack of enough sleep will cause muscle in-coordination which will increase pain and discomfort. Lack of sleep can increase anxiety problems.

    See if a McTimony chiropractor can help? Look at the NICE guidelines about chiropractor treatment. You may be able to persuade your GP that you have a back problem which is contributing to your present problem.

    See if you can see an Alexander Teacher. They may not be able to cure the problem, but they can help you control your problem better.

    Have a look at Mindfulness and meditation. There should be local Buddhist groups who can teach it to you at little or no cost. These techniques will enable you to have a better grasp of how you could be contributing to your pain and discomfort and do something to remove this contribution.
