Hi Latina1,

My ex-colleague also had surgery on both hands (not at the same time) for Carpal Tunnel (she developed it after experiencing RSI for a number of years).

She continues to experience pain in her left hand/wrist even though the operation was done almost two years ago and despite lots of physio and support from her GP, has to wear a 'splint' support on that hand/wrist during the day. She only removes it at night.

Her other hand/wrist is perfectly fine.

Do go back to see your GP - I'm sure with the right treatment, you should be fine.

Wishing you better health.

If the nerve is damaged by the CTS, surgery will not help the pain. Surgery in this case just reduces the pressure.

Think of a paper straw. Squash it flat by placing a heavy book on top to represent CTS. Take the book away and you are left with a flat straw that cannot regain it's original shape- a damaged nerve.

Bowen therapy can help to release and re-awken nerves and will help in reducing the pain. Chiro may help too.

Thanks for the visual. Excellent descriptive explanation of CTS.

Having said that, my ex-colleagues right hand/wrist is now working well and virtually pain free following the surgery so it's a real shame that she's experiencing so many difficulties with her left.

Hi Latina1 so sorry about the pain you are in,I had to go back to the GP and pester them till I got a better medication to help, with the pain. You will have to try and see what works with the help of your GP, explain about how opening bottle or a can hurts a lot that could be an indication to,the GP, sending you positive vibes.

I had surgery three and a half years ago for carpal tunnel. It did not make much difference and the discomfort was back within months of surgery. A few months back my GP prescribed Gabapentin for pain I am having in my shoulder and ear. The Gabapentin sorted that problem out but also sorted the hand out at the same time. All situated on the same right hand side.
