Hello

Please do not shoot the messenger, I sadly feel this is todays NHS

Sadly in these days of rising cost of medications a form of rationing is undertaken by NICE that many hospitals and GPs need to follow, of course the person can purchase these medications on private script. One problem that seems to rise its ugly head is the hospital asks the patient to pay as a private patient and this is because the medication is not on the NHS list.

Both NICE and all medical and Medical GPs and Speciaists have also to be sure that the drug or treatment is not only good value, also the patient will thrive and get the full financial benefit for that form of treatment. This can sometimes be very marked as the patients age becomes higher or the person may not live long enough to show the a positive benefit for that treatment, so treatments become age related.Personally I always feel this makes medications a political issue, keeping costs down and getting getting value for money. This becomes a problem throughout the medical professionals. Medications need to give more bangs for buck, so rationing takes place or in some instances the Government will try not to admit to this

In the past I have been to many meetings that this has reared its ugly head, and is admitted to behind an open hand/mouth.

If people want a truly free NHS where all medication can be used without exception a greater amount will need to be paid for their National Insurance Stamp. We all live where the bottom line is cost and the amount of money the general public is willing to pay

The general premise becomes a fact, the saying, "Why Should I Pay For That",comes to the fore, This then opens up a far greater can of worms that I do not want to discuss, although very real.

Personally I feel that all treatments are given and pensioners get treatment FREE AT POINT OF DELIVERY that is cradle to grave, sadly this will never happen so rationing becomes a greater problem where older people pay more and more for such heroic treatments that are very costly, That includes Nursing Home Fees.

Life is a bitch, although we all get without exception, the treatments we all deserve, we alltravel very similair pathways in life where money is always the bottom line
