Thanks for posting this up Isadora. I enjoyed reading it.

Oh dear, you've just reminded me I'm meant to be reviewing Memoirs of a Debulked Woman. It's rare I put down a book after 2 pages. I couldn't bear Susan Gubar's Madwoman in the Attic and have found Memoirs equally indigestible.

What is fantastic though is that other women are inspired and enlightened by her. If you enjoyed this piece do read her other works.

I have read a little more of Memoirs. Like this article, it is very well written but I found it too depressing. Although, like Susan Gubar, I always want to know everything I also think it is important to be kind to our minds and try to avoid torturing ourselves.
