Many apologies to you all. It has been brought to my attention that given the meaning of the name in Greek mythology my previous pen name - Charon - was quite unsuitable. Thank you to Margaret and Gwyn for pointing this out.
As there did not seem to be a way to change it, I have closed that account and reopened a new account in the name of Sharonforce.
So sorry to anyone who was offended. It was ignorance on my part of the meaning of this word.
I will repost my recent blog about hereditary cancer under my new name.
best regards
Sharon

Hi Sharon,
I certainly wasn't offended....and at least you've given me a little giggle...I just thought it does make us do a double take..because of the weirdo we had on recently....you probably have had more people reading your profile than usual at least we feel we know you haha.
I wasn't offended ... actually I didn't know the name Charon was from Greek Mythology. I've now looked it up and as it's so lost in the history of the ages I doubt it has much significance to anyone these days. I think any name we choose for ourself can have alternative meanings if people really dig deep. I'm sure you just chose Charon as it's near your own name and perhaps yours was taken already. I chose mine because my husband calls me Whippit sometimes - also Wigglesworth. He has funny names for everyone.
I'll be looking out for your new posts with your new nom du plume. xxxxx Annie
I am not into Greek Mythology...but did know "Charon" had strange connotations and that freak.. we had on the other week was into "weird names" so you just do a double take because of this...but certainly wasn't offended...I don't get the Whippit confusion though (it might be the way my brain is wired) haha!!! Love x G x
Sorry Sharon! Thanks for the change! My age means I had compulsory Latin at school and it just leapt out at me! The recent bother from a nutter made me hypersensitive!
Welcome to the site and thanks for the info! I got similar from the genetic consultant!
Love M
Hi Sharon
When I first saw your nom de plume I thought it must have something to do with the ferryman across the styx but then I think that this illness causes us to think in all sorts of ways and I thought it was a bit of black humour! Talk about reading too much into things! Anyway it is nice to see you posting again under whatever name. The pity about you deleting the other account is that I guess it means that your posts about PARP inhibitors will have gone? How are you doing?
The blog posts under my old pen name are still there at the moment, but I expect they may get removed.
I am doing very well thank you. I have been on the parp inhibitor drug for 6 months now. My cancer has reduced by over 90% - in fact all tumours (I had, I think, 8 that they were measuring for trial purposes) are now 'non-measurable' (under 5mm) or gone altogether. I am feeling very well, working, holidaying and exercising whilst on the drug. In fact I am off to Orlando on Wednesday to attend a FORCE conference all about BRCA and hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.
How are you doing? Have you finished your treatment?
That's really good news, and a great bonus that you feel so well on it.
I have finished my treatment and am very slowly getting back to something like normal. I got an infection in one of my surgery wounds which then re-opened, but that is more of a nuisance than anything else.
HAve a wonderful time in Orlando and tell us all about it when you get back.
Dear Sharon, I hope the blogs don't get deleted as they were so very helpful. I'm so delighted to hear the PARP trial is working so well and you're back on track. Enjoy the FORCE conference. Hope you post up some conference notes for us as they'd make really interesting reading.
I studied Latin at school but don't remember Charon. I think my exposure to Greek Mythology was from the Illiad and the Odessy which were on the primary school reading list in those days. Put me off mythology for life and I've always meant to get the books and read them again.
So Charon, Sharon, or Sharonforce, I'm always delighted to read your blogs. xxx Annie
I don't think they will get deleted as others from way back are still there even though they look as if their profile or name has been deleted...because they are tagged you will find them under "parp inhibitors" or whatever they were tagged under... the picture at the side is black/ white and you can't click on to this but in tags it's ok xx G xx
Id no idea that Charon meant anything to be honest so l certainly wasn't offended in theLeast. Anyhow welcome Sharon force. Look forward to reading your posts . Love SheilaFxxx
Your doing the right thing, they all have different ideas and paths to go down. I firmly believe we all have to be pro active in our treatments especially with the situation at the moment . And l personally will do anything to keep myself well and have quality of life within reason of course. Think things are not quite back to normal yet, and if you feel things aren't right ,act straightaway. So glad your doing this Rosebine . Hope this Consultant gives you some satisfactory answers like what he can do, not what he can't . Good luck sending love & hugs SheilaFxxx
