Hi ladies
I’m wondering if PET scans are the preferred option for post-treatment OC monitoring? Are they funded in the UK? In Aussie?
Thank you 😊

Not aware they are used like that in UK. Nearly 17 years since diagnosis and ive only had CT scans with a total of 2 MRIs.
Hi CT scans are the usual follow up for monitoring but I’ve had 2/3 PET scans when the readings have been unclear. They are much more expensive so they do not like to use that method unless necessary on NHS in UK x
I'm in the states but CT's are done post treatment pet scans are ordered if your having symptoms or an elevated CA125.
I’m in the US and PET scans are rare. In six years of OC I’ve had regular CT scans but only two PETscans, one at the beginning to check whether lung nodules were cancer. The other was instead of a biopsy of a lymph node.
In 10 years, have never had a PET scan or MRI, only CT scans with contrast. Deb
CT, PET & MRI are all used here in Australia & are all covered by Medicare for ongoing cancer monitoring. I'm having a CT tomorrow in preparation for starting Stereotactic Radiation Therapy. After the scheduled treatment, I will have a PET to check if it was successful 🤞.
I had MRI & CT scans with contrast prior to my surgery, then I had CT scans with contrast after my surgery.
