Launched YT channel and request feedback

after much contemplation over the past year, I launched a channel on YouTube to raise awareness on ovarian cancer by sharing my story.

It is now exactly 2.3 years since my journey began and I felt if it was too early to share insights. It took me a few months to realise that those at the beginning of the journey are the most confused and hence it does not matter that I cannot call myself a cancer survivor yet, since my intent is only to share information and provide some positivity.

So my channel went live on world cancer day. I hope you do not think I am promoting it here. But I wanted some early feedback from you on the 2 videos I have uploaded whether this type of narrative style is helpful. I plan to be detailed, I am a natural story teller and I do not plan to have a script or rehearse. I just have a broad outline and then just speak; no edits. You will understand more than anyone else if this is meaningful or not.

If you have the time, please check it in the link below and share your feedback for improvement. Only my husband and kids have seen it and they are naturally biased!

Hello Goodgirl98

I have had a little look at your first video.

Well done on doing this! It’s always good to hear other experiences.

You will know I am sure how little time you get to grab people’s attention for online content. I think it may even be seconds before someone decides to keep watching or click away. So I would suggest you preface your story by telling us who this video is for and what we might get out of it.

Your personal style is great but I am going to suggest you make the whole thing shorter and reiterate important points such as what steps women might expect during diagnosis. You could use slides to help you?

Your point about intuition and knowing your body are really important… anyone who has a feeling that something is wrong should get checked out. (Not bury their head in the sand like I did!) xx

Thanks for taking time out to view the video and share your inputs, Lyndy.

Point taken on the length; hubby also said the same. He said break into many episodes if needed but keep each of it crisp. Love the prefacing idea, will add that.

I did debate on slides and image usage and did not go ahead at this point for 2 reasons: I can release the audio as podcast also and it should stand for itself and editing to add images and animation will take time and I didn't want to take it up at this time. I also have a blog in parallel (already wrote up in 2022 but didn't publish) that I am planning to release in parallel to these videos. (have ideas to make about 30 odd videos to cover all aspects of diagnosis to treatment to post care).

I will either re shoot this today or take all your points into account from the second video. Immense gratitude though for the feedback 🙏🏻
