Good morning everyone

An Ovacome member has approached the Ovacome support team as they are hoping to speak with someone in a similar circumstance to them.

This individual has been recently diagnosed with a germ cell tumour ovarian tumour which they are currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment for. They are aged in their sixties, and germ cell ovarian tumours are more commonly diagnosed in people before their early 30s.

Please see message from them below:

‘The hospital believes that that the tumour has mutated into a yolk sac tumour from an epithelial ovarian tumour which occurs in only 1 in 500,000 women a year, so is quite niche. They are treating me for both types which means quite intensive chemotherapy.’

If anyone has been diagnosed with a germ cell ovarian tumour in their sixties or has any information or support they would like to share with this member, please do leave a comment below or give our support line a call on 0800 008 7054. We’re here Monday – Friday, 10am – 5pm.

Thank you all for your help.

Best wishes
