I found it went a few days after my op. However, in my op, they used air to open up parts of my abdomen to see what’s what. That took a few days to clear.

Hence the advice to take mint tea bags in with you. They’re good for helping you to get rid of the wind……don’t worry, everyone finds it’s a relief to ‘let out the gas’! Not necessarily very ladylike but very necessary! Big baggy knickers and elastic waisted trousers or joggers are also helpful to take in for post op.

Good luck for your op tomorrow. As soon as you’re able, let us know how you’re getting on. I found it was a relief to get on with things after all the waiting. You’ll be in capable hands. xx

I can only begin to imagine……such a difficult time for you. I’m sure that you’d gain some comfort from your thoughts of what he would be saying to you, I’m sure it will be something like ‘you’ve got hidden strengths’. I’m sure you have….. 🤗

Hi Cazy, no question is silly if you don’t know the answer so feel free to ask anything. It takes a few days but that feeling and wind does go. I hope your op goes well. Take it from a wimp, it’s nowhere near as bad as you imagine, it’s fear of unknown. Best wishes xx

Good luck with the operation. I was up walking the day after my op. I took peppermint oil and teabags into hospital. I wasn’t allowed home until I had been relieved of some of the trapped wind.

Hi Cazy

I hope the surgery went well. I just wanted to mention that after my debulking surgery I felt bloated and not wanting to eat for at least 6 days after my surgery, so stick with it. It took a few weeks to get my appetite back properly. Still, I am nearly one year post op and remain NED so this could be a good sign 😀 be kind to yourself 🌈
