i am curious about how disciplined you are with olaparib dosage timings since it is recommended to have every 12 hours. I have the tablets after breakfast and dinner as I feel less nauseous after food. But my meal timings vary daily by an hour either ways.. Dinner is atleast ok but morning dosage slips Upto2 hours sometimes due to so many things going on.
Am I putting myself at risk? My doc was not too bothered when I mentioned it but this one aspect keeps bothering me every day.

No, I wouldn’t worry about it! I take mine after breakfast and at night but the time varies wildly. Olaparib has a long half life, so you will not deplete the amount in your system xx
thank you so so much! I cannot tell you how worried I was and cursing myself for the lack of discipline. One follow up: at what point do you decide it is too delayed and you forgo the dose?
Hi, once you are past the first 6-8 weeks the side effects are much better and you won't really notice any difference whether you take it before or after a meal. I was very strict and I tried to take mine the same time every day. I set my alarm (repeating) on my calendar and I tried to take it to as close as possible at the same time every day. I wanted to give myself maximum benefit at all times. There were times that I did forget though and then I simply drank them when I did remember. It does get like a routine after a few months and then it is simply part of what you do every day
I have my first recurrence so I am no longer drinking the Lynparza. Secondary cytoreduction surgery scheduled for 13 Jan and then 6 cycles of chemo again. My oncologist is keen for me to go back onto Lynparza again (I am BRCA1+, diagnosed Oct 2020, stage 4B peritoneal)
Thank you for sharing your routine. Sorry to note the recurrence; and pray that you quickly bounce back to maintenance protocol. How long have you been on olaparib before the recurrence? My OC profile seems same as yours; I was diagnosed in Nov 2021.
I've been taking Olaparib for two and and half years.I always take the morning dose when I wake up around 7am and the evening dose about 6 with my evening meal.Seems to work well as my CA125 has been 4-5 for a long time now.
I had reoccurred .Then put on Carbo/Caelyx but had to stop after dose 4 due to Covid in the hospital. Then it was suggested I went on Olaparib.I think it depends on funding.I'm BRCA 2+ve though.
if at starting Olaparib you are NED it’s 2 years, if you’ve never been NED you keep going for as long as it works . I have to confess I’m erratic with tablets , Xmas has been a nightmare,
Hi. I have been told you can take them plus or minus two hours, so if the morning dose is at nine the evening one can be anywhere from seven to eleven, though aiming for the exact twelve hours is probably good.
Hi. I have been on Olaparib for 9 years. The dose should be taken every 12 hours but there is a 2 hour ‘window’ either side of that if say you forget to take. I take my morning one at 9.30 each morning but tend to take my night time one at 10 -10.30 just before going bed. After that 2 hour window then you should leave until next dose . Xx
Hi, firstly hope you’re ok. I don’t take Olaparib, I am on Niraparib but I thought I would respond as they are similar. I am quite strict. I take it at night c9:30pm and never let more than 30mins pass. I was told it was important to take it at the same time each day. My CA125 has remained normal for months now. X
I take mine with breakfast the timing of which can vary due to how I'm feeling, but usually within 1.5 hours. 2nd dose is usually around 9pm with hot drink before bed. I'm sure if your consultant has no concerns you should be fine. However if you want further reassurance then speak to the pharmacist who dispenses them. They have much more detailed knowledge about the drugs. Good luck. 🌹
Hi. I take 200mg Niraparib daily and have tried to be consistent about timing doses but from a recent conversation with my oncologist I understand that it is not that crucial as the drug persists in the body for quite a long time. He even suggested I might take a couple of days off occasionally as I have been suffering from severe insomnia again, after I thought 6 months in that the side effects were disappearing. He says quality of life is the most important consideration
thank you for sharing! I am also going to stick to my schedule as much as possible. My oncologist also took me off the olaparib during a week long vacation so that I am not troubled due to low iron levels. He said it was ok in the long run. I think it is ok occasionally with the medical sign off.
