It has to be a latent side effect of the chemo my guess. I’m not overweight and never had this before. Had ultrasounds of both legs and no blood clots. Primary doc just says get compression stockings.

Anyone experiencing swollen feet ankles and now legs?
Hello, it could be lymphodema. Ask your GP to be referred to your local lymphodema clinic because they will measure you for really effective compression garments that actually work. Also they will show you how to protect your skin and avoid cellulitis (I have just had a mild dose) Good luck xx
It can be a side effect and compression stocking are the way to go also keep hydrated elevate legs at night end showers w cold spray on feet and ankles and check out which foods to stay away from. Hugs from paris
Hi. This developed for me a couple of months after frontline chemo. I went to a lymphedema therapist, got good compression stockings and wore them for a year and then the problem went away. Mine was always okay after lying down all night and then got worse during the day. You have to put the stockings on first thing before you start the day.
I had swelling in both ankles - more so in the left- in the month or two before my hysterectomy. It was unattractive and made many of my shoes not wearable and was probably a cause of my very slow walking at that time. The doctor was not very concerned. He said it was probably fluid that would drain on its own after the hysterectomy. That’s exactly what happened. Both ankles are slimmer and normal appearing now.
I’m going for my sixth chemo cycle next week, and swollen ankles have not been an issue during the entire chemo process. I actually had few, if any, side effects from the chemo at all aside from the hair loss.
Yes, I had this too and all the remedies mentioned helped me too. The lymphedema nurse said it could occur after radiotherapy and in my case too by the removal of lymph nodes. Good luck and I hope they recover in time x
I'm sorry you're going through this but it's great that you've seen your Dr first.
I had the same thing - we had a prolonged hot spell here and my ankles and calves swelled up badly - lymphodema. It was hot, swollen and itchy, with dry skin. I was told to rest with my feet up as much as possible, and to use ice packs to relieve the heat and swelling and calm the itchiness. I was also told to use plenty of moisturiser to relieve the dry skin, and drink plenty of water. It worked fairly well. I added in lots of ankle rotations while I was lying down, to encourage the excess fluid to move on and out! Compression stocking can be useful, I understand, but I wasn't given any and didn't feel that I needed them.
Good luck, and I hope you are more comfortable soon.
