Day 6 and I’ve been sick all day and every day since day 3. They only gave me 3 days anti sickness. Any advice. I feel ghastly....

Hi. Definitely phone your chemo helpline asap. You can quickly become dehydrated which will cause further problems. I hope you feel better soon. Best wishes.

Hi Lockygill

Contact the emergency chemo line if you were given one, they will probably ask you to go in for a check up and could also give you some more anti sickness meds... good luck hope the sickness subsides soon.

Ring up your CNS nurse for advice. She should convey what is happening to your oncologist. Or better still ring the number on the red card but don't delay. X

Thank you ladies. I rang my oncology nurse and my consultant rang me back for a chat. She’s prescribing anti sickness tablets and leaving it for me today. In the meantime, small sips of Coke have helped a bit.

Ginger ale also helps but the meds are better. I get Zofran and it works well but also have compazine I can take and hour after zofran if that doesn’ work. They cause me problems with constipation so I immediately take miralax for about 7 days. Good lick and stay strong!

You may need to go in and get fluids through your port. I had to and felt so much better. Hugs!

Ok, I am new but could your GP prescribe something like Cyclizine? I've had that and so has my Dad. Oh I see you've sorted it. Good.

Your lot are a bit mean with the anti sickness, also your GP might be able to help as well depending on how good they are. I hope you soon get better. Sue xx

Hi, I have to take anti sickness every day throughout my treatment otherwise the nausea is really bad. I'm ok if I take anti sickness continuously. Xxxxxx

Ugh. I am sooooooo sorry. Chemo nausea is like no other I have ever experienced. I too have had major stomach nausea and myalgia since I started with chemo and even after I switched over to different meds. Are you referring to stomach nausea? I called up my doc in the middle of the night- I don't know if you are able to do that but contact whoever you can. Perhaps they can give you ondensetron to cross over until the stronger meds work. If you already have that and it's not working you definitely need to let your doctor know because that kind of throwing up is not sustainable. I found that I could not skip any of the nausea meds even by a minute or the nausea would hit me hard and it would be DAYS before I got it under control. I was given permission to take another ondensatron (which is prescribed every 8 hours but I needed a bit more often). I also had a couple other anti-naseau meds but nothing worked better than just keeping up with the meds.

Aw that sucks, sorry. Have thought about asking whether you might get the 5 day dosage of e.g. Aprepitant based antiemetics next time? I found those helped me more than any of the other meds. Hope it gets better. xx. Maus

You should be able to get the sickness tablets from your GP Gill. I phoned the the cancer hospital helpline, they give lots of good advice.

Hope you’re feeling much better very soon.

Love from Angela 😘 x
