As anyone has experience with Oramorf - started taking it to break the pain barrier when I was in hospital and was wondering if anyone has taken it or is taking it? Thanks Anne XXX

Hi. Yes, I was given this when I was in hospital. I didn't take it for long as it made me feel sick.

Hi Anne I can't take it. It makes me physically sick but we're all different on how we react to meds so you may be ok. My mom takes it occasionally and she tolerates it well. Good luck if you go with it . June.

Hi Anne,

I haven't had oramorf but have had morphine patches 10mg for adhesions. They worked well. Best wishes. Gwen xx

I had oramorf in hospital but had to stop as it mad me sick as well. I went on to oxycodone that helped me. I think there are a few alternatives but if you can tolerate it oramorf is very effective. I was ok for a couple of days on it.

I had it whilst in hospital and I tolerated it well. However it made me very constipated .I was admitted to hospital initially with a blocked bowels so in the end it was not suitable.

Hi Anne, I've been taking Oramorph Oral Solution for 3 months and have found it helps when the pain is excessive and helps me get through the night. You can also take Paracetemol with it which makes it work better. The only down side is the constipation. I hope your feeling better since you arrived home. Sue xxx

So glad you’re home. I hope you have managed to put the traumatic situation Behind you.

Re oramorph : Constipation!!!!!!!

X

I have it by my bed and occasionally take it at night for my back pain. I am also on slow release morphine (MST) so don’t need it much except when the pain is bad. Mostly I survive on MST and paracetamol. I haven’t had much of a battle with the constipation or nausea, but think that it is because I use it as what the Macmillan nurses call a break out medicine. It just helps me to cope in a pain crisis.

Yes I took it for a while before the GP upped my MST dose and it did cause constipation. It's good for break out pain as a temporary fix but better to have slow release capsules as a long term solution for pain control. Good luck x

I was given codine in hospital which I was sent home with, after a failed stoma reversal operation (Cancer re-occurrence was found). I developed a bowel blockage a few days later (I was ambulances to A & E) I was given Oralmorph and got on much better with it. Our bodies are all different and respond differently. Good luck. x
