I just wanted to share an article that is going around which talks about avoiding NSAIDS (such as Ibuprofen) IF someone becomes sick with COVID-19. This seems to be a new finding.
I wonder what this means for people taking it for other reasons. Would it need to be stopped if contracting the virus?
Any further knowledge on this topic would be appreciated.
Hi, yes I saw this on the news. I was told that especially during chemo, you can only take paracetamol, which I do. But it is important to let others know about ibuprofen, although anyone already taking it should contact their GP.x
The current advice from the NHS is that there's no strong evidence that ibuprofen could make coronavirus (COVID-19) worse.
For the moment they're recommending taking paracetamol for the symptoms of coronavirus, unless you've been told by your doctor that paracetamol isn't suitable for you. They also advise that, if you're already taking ibuprofen or another non-steroidal anti-inflammatory on the advice of a doctor, not to stop taking it without checking first.
