Update - End of treatment Scan. Any advise regarding thrombus?

Hi ladies,

A few weeks back you all helped and advised me re my mums end of treatment scan etc. Thank you again!

We managed to get that booked in today. Saw the oncologist an hour after and the results were available.

Good news is my mum is now NED. CA125 now 12. Stage 3A and grade 3.

Should be bouncing off the walls but my mum now has a long segment thrombus in the right internal lilac vein. It’s very large apparently.

Does anyone have any advise regarding this blood clot? She has been put on fragmin for the next 8 weeks and is being referred to the royal free in London to see the vascular team.

Thank you!

Sorry to hear this.

I don’t know much about thrombosis but I do know it is good news that they have diagnosed the problem at an early stage. Unfortunately thrombosis is one of the many and varied risks we can face. My own blood clot travelled to my heart which complicated things a bit. But I had the best treatment possible as your mum will have and soon bounced back.

Ihad a pulmonary embolism following surgery and was put on fragmin for several months. I believe it cleared up quite quickly. I don’t know about this particular clot but it is good that she has been diagnosed and is on the right medication.

Glad to hear it cleared for you relatively well and quickly! X

What a shame!

That clot was probably forming for a white even before your mothers’ Treatment began, as Ovarian cancer is notorious for making ones blood sticky.

Seeing the vascular team is a boon, as they will make certain your mom is safe.

I had to take fragamin for 6 months as my lungs were riddled with clots when I was diagnosed.

It did take about three months to get the all clear, so it might be a lengthy time for your mom, too.

I had a nice roll of fat in my tummy and learned to inject myself pretty quickly.

I wish you good luck and better health,

Hugs,

Laura
