Hi ladies is anybody on Lynparza that don’t have the BRACA gene? Or is it just for people with the gene.

I think they use a different PARP for non BRACA called Niraparib but it’s only available for recurrence.

Got the info below from the OC A patient hub incase useful

There are currently two PARP inhibitors available to treat ovarian cancer: olaparib and niraparib.

Olaparib (Lynparza®) is used to treat some types of advanced ovarian, Fallopian tube or primary peritoneal cancer in women with a BRCA1/2 gene mutation following first- or third-line treatment.

Niraparib is used to treat high grade serous non-mucinous epithelial ovarian cancer. It’s available as a maintenance therapy for women who have a platinum-sensitive recurrent ovarian cancer, women who have responded to a round of chemotherapy since their cancer returned.

It is available to women regardless of whether they have a BRCA gene mutation or not. Women with and without a BRCA gene mutation are eligible for the drug if they haven’t previously been prescribed a PARP inhibitor as part of their treatment.

Niraparib can be accessed by women across the UK.

I’ve had Niraparib and it hasn’t worked for me was only on it for 4 months and my cancer returned unfortunately. Just was wondering if Lynparza was available. But I get the feeling I won’t get a PARP offered again. Now on weekly taxol for 22 weeks. Trying to look into every avenue at the moment. Keep well lovely ladies

Sorry to hear the niraparib didn’t work for you. This disease is so individual it’s worth trying everything available.

I hope the taxol isn’t causing too many side effects and is stabilising the recurrence. It’s definitely worth asking about the Olaparib. Maybe Anna on the support line could help ?

Love and best wishes that you get back to stable disease and remission.
