Hi lovelies,

Just read that Eastenders are doing an Ovarian Cancer storyline, hopefully it’ll raise awareness to this disease the way it needs to be raised, everywhere I go I see aware for breast and cervical for ladies but never Ovarian, hopefully they will all be treated the same!

Yes, think they have been working with Macmillan so hopefully will help raise awareness and be accuatelay portrayed.

There’s also an OC storyline in Neighbours at present of channe 5 which is being covered in the press. Although will be a difficult watch as character has been diagnosed stage 4 with spread to liver and brain. Have spoken to Overcome and Ovarian Cancer Action as I’m concerned they should be putting a UK support/ help line number at end of the program.

Hopefully the increased awareness will lead to early diagnosis for some and also help with fund raising in March for Ovarian cancer awareness month. I think what is really needed is a screening program as many of us didn’t have any recognisable symptoms until it was already advanced.

But definitely a step forward.

I couldn't agree more. It's about time there was more awareness of ovarian cancer. I'm in remission myself and on Avastin. I wonder if the 'character' will have ascites which I suffered terribly with? I shall follow this storyline closely.

Yes great to hear abt storylines re OC in Eastenders and Neighbours. As the poor man in OC we desperately need more awareness raising, more screening programmes, more research and more more treatments.

I agree it’s great to get more awareness out there but in Neighbours they don’t seem to be covering any of the symptoms and it looks like they will be killing her off very soon though. That’s disappointing.

Fully agree it’s good to make more people aware and I hope the story line is accurate. It was raised in Holby City t.v. series a little while ago and I thought their telling of the story was worse than useless. Made it look like a case of a bad cold.

I watch a bit of this series last night and it showed the doctor clued up by just feeling jeans stomach without further tests hope further series portrayed it better
