A solid mass was found in the area to the left of my left ovary. I will be having a C.T scan the day after Thanksgiving. I am so frightened, but trying to stay positive.

Hi sunshine,

Don't panic yet, cysts are common in the overies and lets hope that's all it is.

If you don't need them then get rid of them asap,

This forum is for people with overian cancer. Systems are not very noticeable until it's gone too far. You would have a full bloated feeling in your tummy and not be able to eat much. You may experience pain on either side, tiredness and back pain.

Mostly the bloated feeling as you would develop a lot of fluid in you abdomen.

Make sure you ask for an ultrasound and CA 125 test this will show any abnormalities and also get CT scan .

Best of luck to you, be sure to let us know how you get on.

Hi there

So sorry that you are going through this. No matter what the doctors say , unless and until a single mass is removed nobody can tell with certainty that this is or is not cancer. Obviously if your ca125 is in the thousands and there are masses everywhere , it's usually a different outcome.

I was told eight years ago by a very downcast looking consultant that I had a 20 cm mass and I might need to be medevaced to a larger hospital. Well , after an MRI I was told that this was actually a large fibroid sitting behind a simple cyst. The simple cyst however turned out to be , after a pathologist had examined it , an ovarian borderline tumour. I'm obviously still here.

So please try and keep as busy as you can with lots of healthy treats and exercise , exercise ,exercise. This is a horrible time , but it will pass, honestly.

With love and hugs xxxxx

Hi Sunshine.

It is an awful time waiting for investigations; we've all been there. But if it's any help at all, I had a solid mass detected on my left ovary. It was something like 18x15x13cm (can never remember exactly!). It did turn out to be malignant but that was nearly 30 years ago. Wishing you all the very best. Keep us posted.

Hi Sunshine - if you are one of us who have this thing, you have come to the right place! I'm relatively new here myself, and don't post much, but have found the wonderful women here a great source of information and support. If you don't have this thing, good for you!

My story began like yours, just in July. But I had a mass 19 by 13 by 11 cm. which my ct scan revealed was coming from my left ovary. I'd had a partial hysterectomy years earlier, and in August the mass was removed along with my omentum. The surgery was 4 hours but i tolerated it well and recovered without much pain. When they staged me it was 1 C, and I'm on chemo now to try to finish it off. Don't worry about the lingo yet - I hope you won't need it!

But my point - everyone is different. My CA 125 was 8, smack in the very low range of normal, and could have masked my cancer. They need to use all the tools in the diagnostic toolbox to sort these things out.

It looks like you will be with us for a while, at least until you know what is going on. As you will read from many, stay away from Google!

Be kind to yourself, try not to overthink right now, try to have a good Thanksgiving, and when you get your results ask your doctor lots of questions. Keep us posted how you are doing, reach out any time before or after Thanksgiving. We are here for you, and even in this early going, others will have help for you, too. Judy
