After all the worry over "suspicious" mri, elevated ca125, and several risk factors I have been given word that my cyst is benign. I am relieved, more than grateful and humbled by what I have learned from the ladies on this site. I pray for each of you to find successful treatment and for the researchers to put an end to this so that the suffering ends for all. Thank you.

Great news. My late wife succumbed to OC IIIC, very aggresive. But her younger sister was benign when operated on a month ago. Their late mother and grandmother all diagnosed with OC, I am happy for her and for you. Take care.

Delighted for you,worrying times.I have my scan booked for 15thAug.day after I return from this holiday.Elevated ca125 after a year cancer free,bowel issues,painful bloating.Fingers crossed it's just a 'blip'.

For now I will enjoy this next week with my kids and grandchildren.

Praying for just a "blip". It is almost impossible to keep worry away. Be kind to yourself and feel the love that surrounds you, especially enjoy the little ones.

I am so pleased for you and sorry you had to endure so much worry.

This brilliant news to hear...we are going through this just now.. my mother is waiting for results to come in from a CT scan, elevated ca125 of 39, she had an ultrasound which found 2 large cysts/masses. She had a cousin who had OC and old aunt.. also her sister had BC still well, so it's in the family

We went to see a private consultant, who later emailed me to say that my mother is 'highly suspicious' cancer, but we will see what the ct scan shows....don't know if this means yes she definitely has cancer.

Called her gp to get things moving abit to get results for scan... the waiting is destroying us! I cried myself to sleep the other night.

I'm praying they are benign like you. I don't know what to think?!

I am a mess

I had plenty of risk factors, a large cysr, elevated ca125, aND "suspicious" mri (according to the radiologist). My gynecologic oncologist took a look and said it looked benign. You don't know for sure until the biopsy. I hope that when all is said and done you have the best news!

in reply tootter52

Our gynae oncologist has said that it's highly suspicious.. which I'm not sure if it's cancer or not but they must be able to see from the ultrasound... I did think that it would need to be biopsy to give a definite answer

How do you get your oncologist to do MRI's instead of CAT scans? I hate being scanned so often.

Unlike most of the posters I live in the USA. I've had US and MRI. No CAT scan. Location is probably the difference. I don't know that you would have a different schedule for MRI vs CAT. BLESSINGS to you!

MRI's don't give you radiation, CAT scans do. I would rather the MRI's.

I agree. I don't know how it is where you live but MRI scanners are everywhere here. Just down the street and round the corner. Once they have the very expensive equipment they have to keep it busy.

I live in the suburbs of Minneapolis, MN and 1.5 hours from the Mayo Clinic. Excellent place to be for health care!
