My mum has asked for me to post the following. She had her operation late April a full hystercetomy and part of small bowel removed. Late may she found herself back in hospital with a kink in her bowel which was making her sick with green bile now she is through those two she keeps getting really bad indigestion which prevents her from doing much? Mum would like to know how else suffers with this and what have you done to help ease the discomfort? Xx

Hello...I haven't experienced this myself but I would urge your Mum to speak to her nurse specialist or doctor to get some help. I make it a rule not to put up with pain or discomfort long term..it's debilitating and it affects the quality of life. Although not every situation can be sorted out easily- her team should be trying to resolve this for her xx
Just to say I suffer quite severe indigestion too .. I have had part of my small bowel removed and now have a stoma ! Seems to me that us ladies generally suffer with digestive problems as a result of our surgery... like lily Anne, I too take Omeprazole , I suggest you ask your GP for advise or speak to your cancer nurse specialist..
Surgeries tend to cause things to be rearranged and takes a while to have everything settle down. Hopefully the dr can order her something to help with indigestion which typically is contained in the stomach and not intestines so much. She may also want to inquire on what type of diet she may need to follow such as a Low Residue or low fat/ low fiber depending on how much of the bowel they removed... I had three different sections removed and was placed on a low residue diet which made things much more comfortable.
Indigestion was one of the two symptoms that I suffered before diagnosis and it has continued intermittently since all treatment.
Mine is mainly wind which also give me heart palpitations as it rises. I think I may be lactose intolerant (which can be caused by chemo) but there is no actual test to confirm this now. I have been given advice by a consultant which I will try. Investigate this for your Mum.
But, it could be caused by anxiety. Investigate this.
Most of us have had massive invasive surgery and our body parts have to find a new place to live which causes numerous problems. Chemo is also a poison which keeps giving.
Indigestion is one of those 'minor' complaints that can be so distressing and painful, sometimes we just need to experiment with the best individual treatment.
I think this is something which goes along with this disease. I found sometimes moving around helps, shifting wind even if it's just round the house but better if I can get a bit further. Also I have a wheat pad which can be heated for two minutes in the microwave and is a great relief.
I think it goes with the surgery. I found moving around helpful. What really moved things on for me was going back on probiotics. Kefir also helpful.
