Have any of you experienced a sort of nettle rash sensation but not a rash? It's on the top half of my left arm and pretty much stings 24/7... quite strange really. This is now my 8th cycle but 6 cycles with chemo.

I've only just had my first carbo/taxol plus Avastin. I also had a stinging sensation in my arm when I was given it, the nurse said it was normal. That seems to have passed now, but have noticed stinging in my stomach & legs. Has your nettle rash sensation just started or did you have it on previous cycles too?
Hi Helen I have had stinging/cramps feeling in my stomach too. I was told to take Buscopan which does help. The arm stinging is new to me since I finished chemo! All very strange but as long as it's killing the alien then so be it.
Thanks Michelle, I will ask about the Buscopan as I do get the stomach cramps too. I don't think I'm doing too bad!! Nothing too unbearable, it's only been a week so I'm expecting it to get worse. How long are you on the Avastin for now? I was told I will have Avastin for 18 cycles.
Hi Helen on reading up about Avastin the cramps I have is where the tumour was found.. on my right ovary albeit a phantom one now! When I first have Avastin the cramps are there I like to think it's mopping up. Then during the 3 weeks it eases. I too have 18 cycles, I've had 6 with chemo and now had 2 alone. These are every 3 weeks taking me through to Feb next year then I will have a CT scan. Love Michelle
For a few days it feels like my nerve endings are exposed on my newly created scar and that is like nettle rash. That's only when I have Avastin thrown into my mix and not when taxol alone. Really sore. Walk around rubbing my tummy. Glad I'm not alone. X
Hi Gleedy yes it does feel like that. Have you tried Buscopan? It does help. I'm having 18 cycles had 6 with chemo and now had 2 alone with a CT at the end due in Feb. Love Michelle c
I haven't but I will today. Thank you. Another thought occurred to me during my sleepless steroid night. When having avastin alone are you given steroids. I've got my fingers crossed for no. X
No steroids now chemo has finished. I did and still have sleeping tablets as couldn't stand being wide awake on steroids. I still take them now as worry too much about prognosis, being alone, the future and don't have a husband/partner to hold my hand as it were xx
I'm with you on that. I have a partner after so many years as super single mum and that includes seeing them into their 20s. I met him not long before this started and he has been my rock. He doesn't live with me and is 2 hours away but I feel I can't take things futher as I don't know my future. My kids still need me. I try to keep positive and bubbly but as you know it's the night hours. Anyway yay to no steroids on Avastin. Cheek bones may even return!!
Sun out after storms here and out to lunch with an amazingly supportive friend. Have a good day xx
Hi Tracey I can understand totally how you feel. How do manage with the 2 hour drive? I am thinking of joining a gym. I do feel tired with Avastin but thought going to the gym would increase my energy levels.. I have a taster tomorrow and will see how it goes! Hope you had a great lunch today! Michelle x
Bless him as he has travelled to me every Friday and goes home Sunday for the last six months. Good luck with the gym. Let me know how you cope. Not quite ready for that yet but said man has got me a yoga for beginners dvd that I'm going to try. Think the relaxation would be good too. We should just live life to the full now as so many lovely ladies on this site are doing. Xx
It's a good price on ebay. Starter kit 15 pound and then 60 sachets are about 23 pound. My chemist doesn't stock them but a good one would probably meet that price x
HI Chamber get Neil MED rinses over the counter in the chemist, use twice a day and that will greatly help the sinus issue. I also had a spray Dymista when needed. I finished Avastin last October and used these for a few months after. Not so much now but they do help a lot, The achey knees and ankles I can empathise with, I wore light supports on my knee and ankles. That went away now going for physio on my left hip, a trapped nerve, whatever next?
I had one bad night and had to get antibiotics otherwise was okay, the ent of my hospital recommended the Neil Med so it is safe to use. Good news is that it goes when you finish the Avastin. Best wishes
I also have post nasal drip problems with avastin. If Neil med does not work for you my onc told me to try otrivine spray for immediate relief. To stop the problems longer term he prescribed avamys spray. It does contain steroids but very small amount. Once I used the avamys for a couple of weeks it worked for me. Susan
