this is my third effort on oral bisphosphonates. It went ok I guess better than the others, but I will find out Thursday if my new endocrinologist wants me on something stronger.

I was on Risedronate several years, for two years and went off but back on a couple of years later. I didn’t seem to have any side effects however my last bone density scan showed bone loss but only in my spine. It was severe enough, -3.3, to put me on Forteo. I only began a couple of weeks ago and am having no side effects but it is too soon to tell if it is improving my spine bone density.

Is it weekly? Still doing okay? My Endo flat out told me they may "hold the line" on my issues, but would not increase anything. That was when I had the one fracture at T7. After the other six, she's telling me they are useless for the most part....and wants me on Prolia after Tymlos. That's a hard no. But I've gone a month without another fracture...maybe the Tymlos is working.

Maybe it’s working.

Tymlos and Evenity are the fastest acting. I went to a lecture and the man said for severe osteoporosis ( which I have) I have to do Tymlos or evenity. So I will tell my dr that. And the man gave me charts to show the dr.

I’ve heard what works is a multi factor effort: supplements, medicine, exercise, positive attitude, low stress, healthy balanced eating, weight bearing exercises, tonight I watched an expert who said extension and not flexion exercises. Don’t do sit-ups! Do this - lie on stomach , arms at side and lift head and shoulders up. That’s extension and supposed to hugely prevent fractures.

I believe in the well-rounded approach as well. I refuse to be defined by these fractures...so I stay positive, reduced stress by rarely watching news of any kind, and keeping a healing mind spirit going. I worked in healthcare 30+ years, so I've seen miracles, and know folks can heal. Absolutely no sit-ups, I've had three rounds of PT through my four fusions, and learned a lot about doing the most with your body without hurting it. Extension is very good for the back...I've finally been cleared to do a few of my exercises, and added back my one mile morning walk. Already feeling better. Getting out side in the sun heals as well...even with the Lupus, I get out, tell my body to adjust to the sun, get over it, and start sweating! I just can't yet agree to any type of bisphosphonate. So little clinical information on safe long lasting positive results. So many stories of folks getting no where on them.

yes well I believe the bisphosphonates largely makes it so people don’t get worse

I tried the daily risendronate. I took one. Then I went to a lecture online that said doing the bisphosphonates makes the anabolics less effective. And this person suggested evenity as most productive.
