I am new to the group.I have osteoporosis and decided against taking drugs and have started HRT.My question is has anyone seen any positive improvement in scores by taking HRT?if so how long did it take and what dose of HRT were they taking?
Thank you so much!

Hi fluffmonkey, here is a good article about the current thinking around use of HRT to prevent and/or treat osteoporosis. It is coming back into favor after a few decades where it wasn't, due to fears of increased risk of heart disease, cancer, etc.
(Note: Dr. Risa Kagan, quoted in the article, happens to be a member of American Bone Health's Medical and Scientific Advisory Board.)
HRT is more commonly used to prevent osteoporosis as opposed to treat osteoporosis. Either way, the goal is to reduce bone loss and thus prevent fractures, not necessarily to improve your scores. (Remember that your T-score as measured by bone density test is only one part -- though an important part -- of your overall risk of fractures.) If you can lose less bone than you would lose otherwise, that can be very helpful.
