I didn't do enough research into the side effects of Prolia as I trusted my rheumatologist to have doen that for me. Since that time, acknowledging that I have several paradoxical reactions to medications, I have developed numerous, painful lipmas. These have required surgical excision which is no fun. What should I consider as an alternative to Prolia in tablet form as I want to stop it it now?

Please read up on what to know regarding stopping Prolia. Stopping Prolia can put your bones at high risk of fracture. So there are ways to do this. Talk to a knowledgeable doctor. Do your research. I stopped Prolia. Good luck.
Prolia discontinuation is a serious issue. There is a rebound effect which causes loss of bone gain from prolia and can even result in bone loss below base line which happened to me. The largest risk is after 2 years or 4 shots. When I stopped the protocol recommended was to switch to an oral bisphosphonate or Reclast injection immediately after the expiration of last 6 month prolia course. That was in 2019. There has been more analysis done about risk and alternatives since then. The mechanism of action with prolia was not well understood when it was marketed. The rebound effect can result in spontaneous vertebral fractures The spine suffers because the most significant rebound occurs in spinal bone. You should see an endocrinologist with experience in prolia discontinuation. There is also a great deal of research you can read on line. Just search “ stopping prolia”.
I went on Raloxifene, hired someone who specialized in weight training for seniors, and went to a dietician who knows what our body needs to build bone. The first year I took the medication, did weight training 3 times a week, ate right and gained 21% bone in my spine and hips too. I'm still doing it and gained even more bone. There could be side effects from the medication, but seems rare. Wishing you best of luck....take care.
