The safety of using a weighted vest for bone building

Does anyone have any information about using weighted vests for people with spinal compression fractures? You would think it would be common sense to stay away from them. I see a lot of information about people with osteoporosis using them, with good results. But I haven't really found information specifically talking about this issue. Any information is appreciated. Thank You!

There is a lot of good info available about using a weighted vest for prevention if you are healthy. BUT because you've already had compression fractures I don't think you should be using generic info from the internet I suggest a consultation with a professional. -- and physical therapist -- who can assess you and design a program that fits you. Also, it's important to have a vest that is fitted to you. Women are not just small men; we need exercise equipment that fits our bodies. A PT can help you find a vest that fits you.

Be well.

I currently have 7 spinal fractures and the Orthopedic Dr ordered a back brace that supports my entire spine, especially where the fractures are located. If you’re interested I’d recommend getting your doctor to order you a brace. I’m new on this site but I want to learn more.

Thank You for the comment. I have 5 compression fractures myself. Two very old ones. From I believe, 30 to 35 yrs. ago. The other three, I'm not sure how old they are. Fortunately, they're all behaving pretty well. I've realized that I should probably stay FAR AWAY from weighted vests. Your comment is appreciated.🙂

I have a weighted comforter on my bed and I slept with the comforter over me. I had a nightmare that I was buried alive, so I don’t think that the weighted blanket is an option for me. I felt trapped in the blanket.😂
