I wonder about the safety of re-clast

I am considering once a year re-clast treatment And wonder if anyone else has had this treatment and had any side effects
Hi welcome! I invite you to find lots of informative resources at the American Bone Health website: americanbonehealth.org/
This is a good forum with lots of helpful users. I hope you find what you are looking for!
Hi Foreyes,
I can understand your feelings as drugs work differently on each patient.
I have had 5 successful doses of Re-Clast and a 6th in May after a 4 year gap; with no side effects.
I drank plenty of water prior to the infusion, take my calcium and drink 50- 64 oz of water daily.
My doctor ordered a slow drip infusion which is administered over an hour as opposed to 15 minutes which allows the medication to enter your system with greater ease.
I have found that this drug and being attentive to water and supplements works best for me.
My thoughts are if you have any doubt or other conditions that concern you about taking this drug, have a talk with your doctor about them any possible side effects.
Also ask if he/ she would be willing to order follow up labs; especially if you have any other medical conditions. The communication between you and your physician is key.
Please let me know how you are doing and if I can be of any further support. I will always reach back.

Rec’d my 1st zoledronic acid infusion (generic). Curious, have you seen a significant improvement in your bone density scores since you started taking reclast?
Hi FearFracture, I had enough improvement after my first few doses to set me on a three year holiday from infusions.
Last year my bone density level showed a decline enough to re- infuse me. I also have increased my calcium intake.
I will know more in May when I have my year bone density test.
Will keep in touch - please do the same!

I took Alendronate for 1.5 yrs but, due to digestive issues, I discontinued taking it in July 2021 and in November, I got my 1st zoledronic acid (generic Reclast) infusion. I was nervous about getting it and I’m still not sure if I made the right choice but I felt like I didn’t have much of a choice and needed to do something. Did you doctor suggest trying Alendronate 1st? I know 2 people who have taken Alendronate with no issues. Reclast, zoledronic acid, and Alendronate are all bisphosphonates and basically do the same thing. What reclast “safety issue” are you concerned about?
