My bone scan, t score femoral neck -2.1. Total hip -2.0. L1 - L4. -2.8 so a bit confused does that mean all 4 are lumbar are -2.8 or do they just report the worst one ? Final DX. Severe osteoporosis. Is a 2.8 considered severe , perhaps I am in denial.

T score
-2.8 is your average score for L1-4. On its own that isn't a severe score, but other factors are taken into consideration too, for example whether you've had any fragility fractures.
Thank you , I did fracture my arm , I fell on black ice on a slope sideways it was a pretty hard as far as I am concerned high impact. Then 5 months later I tripped on an uneven sidewalk with flipflops and thought I fractured a few ribs but X-ray no fracture. I have since then got safety measures as a priority
Do you have any other risk factors? I'm guessing they've counted your fracture as a fragility fracture, but hardly relevant if it was such a hard fall!
I am post menopausal, but only 59, x smoker , lupus connective tissue disorder, ulcerative colitis-in remission. Cancer, no chemo just surgery. My diet in the last year I have consumed a lot of junk food. My blood work showed low vit d high pth , I do take 4000 IU now
I'm not medically qualified, so can't be sure how much of that would contribute to your bone thinning and be an ongoing risk-factor for fractures, but it may well be that some/all of these have been included in your fracture risk assessment. In the UK we're given a % score for fracture risk (eg 10% risk of fracture in the next 10 years), but I'm not sure that you get that in the US.
