Does it seem that senile osteoporosis and osteoarthritis go hand in hand?

Unfortunately as we age we become prone to an ever-increasing array of conditions and diseases, osteoporosis and osteoarthritis being two of these. I don't think there's any link, apart from old age! Of course, both can affect young people too, but are most common among the over 60s.

That's true... As we age we collect an array of medical problems...

So you're saying the only thing the two have in common is age? There seem to be different opinions when this is asked...

Thanks much, I appreciate it very much!

I guess that having osteoarthritis could contribute indirectly to osteoporosis, in that if you're in pain and less mobile, you're unlikely to get the exercise that's needed to keep bones healthy. Otherwise I'm not aware of any links between the two.

I'd say there is a correlation (co-relation) but not causation. Two things can both be happening (possibly for the same reasons) without one causing the other. So both osteoarthritis and osteoporosis are more common as we age.
