Hi BelleekBones, we don't cover osteomalacia much, so I'll be interested to see if anyone in this group has experienced it. One mention we have on our website of osteomalacia (not necessarily tumor-induced) is that can result from vitamin D deficiency. Do you know if that's what is causing your bones to demineralize? americanbonehealth.org/nutr...
Hi BelleekBones, your post rang a bell for me when I saw mention of a drug called Crysvita, which is indicated for "tumor-induced osteomalacia due to high levels of FGF23, that is tied to low phosphate levels." Do you know if this is the cause of your osteomalacia?
Disclosure: Ultragenyx, the company that markets Crysvita, has just become a corporate partner of American Bone Health.
I had not heard of the drug until reading the announcement of our partnership with Ultragenyx. Just a coincidence! But I would be interested to know if this is the type of tumor-induced osteomalacia you're dealing with.
