My son 10 is having a really hard time at school, started out as school aniexty but now is also seperation anxiety. We have have counselling sessions which helped to open the conversation barriers but now he has started not masking at school and I really struggle to get him in in the mornings, he ends up having to be restrained and yesterday hit out and threatened the teacher. The school are not really helpful and threatened him with suspension. I do not know what to do. We havd a cahms appointement who deemed him not severe enough so refered us back to supporting smiles, we are waiting to hear from them. I have phoned the doctor to get a emergency appointment, again waiting! I am not in a great place mentally myself and do not know what to do?

Hi, school can be so difficult to manage when a child has got anxiety. I’m so sorry you haven’t found the help available helpful so far. It can be hard I know to find the right help sometimes. I hope your gp comes back to you soon to offer some advice. I know it’s so hard when you are not sure which way to turn for help. Is there someone else at your son’s school you could talk to in order to improve things?
With my own children I’ve always found really helpful advice on the Young minds website and they also have a helpline you can ring. They have really helpful advice on anxiety and how to ensure you can fully share your concerns about your child’s needs to health professionals. (youngminds.org.uk/parent/pa.... You could also try contacting the Just one Norfolk number (0300 300 0123) if you haven’t already as maybe they could signpost you to support that might be available?
The Just one Norfolk website may also has some helpful resources available that could help you for your son (justonenorfolk.nhs.uk/emoti... ) . It also has some info on how parents can get support for themselves (justonenorfolk.nhs.uk/emoti....
Sorry for sharing lots of links but sometimes I know it can be hard to know where to start to look and the links I’ve given have info on resources you might not have seen. Keep going, it sounds like you are doing such a lot to support your son. I hope you get on ok. 😊
