Hi

You need to tell us a liittle bit more about tthe pain - there isn't enough to go on.

What sort of pain is it? Was there anything in your treatment that might be a factor?

In my own case I had a chest drain in for nearly 3 months which caused damage to some nerves which left me in very severe pain. This was only solved by a nerve ablation.

Also you don't say what type of surgery you have had?

Try to give us some more inforrmation to go on and also to what extent your left side was operated on.

I wish you well

regards Larry

Yes a few more details and hopefully can advise

Yes I had the same and pain lasted for 9 months and dont get any now.Because of the surgery and realignment of stomach digestive bits etc etc it does take some time on some of us.Dont know if theres a name for it.The only pain relief for me was morphine(liquid form).

Hi Kimmy

Sorry to hear you are having these problems and I hope they clear up soon for you, we all seem to suffer with problems our GP's can't diagnose. I had a frozen shoulder for quite a long time, due I was told from laying on that shoulder for so long during the surgery, and was eventaully referred to an orthopeadic surgeon who immediately told me to stop using ibuprofen as it creates more stomach acid. So, I was taken meds to stop it on one hand and another that created it. When I told my GP she said she was unaware of this:-(

So if you still have acid problems it might be worth stopping the ibuprofen

Good luck in your recovery

Best wishes

Hi Kimmy

I'm still not clear where you are experiencing the pain but no matter.

What I suggest is that you go back to your specialist nurse and explain the extreme discomfort you are in.

First off they are in a much better position to know what the correct pain relief strategy is to pursue and also they will know what issues such as the acid production point should be taken into account.

If they cannot resolve the pain issue quickly ask to be referred to a pain specialist. They are usually aneathatists who have this as a second speciality. In my own case it was only when I went to a pain specialist that I actually got the problem sorted.

Let us know how you get on

regards Larry

Sorry about your problems, sorry I cant answer your question but wellcome to the site it is so helpfull to know others share your problems and understand. best wishes Sandra.

Hi Kimmy,

The way the site works its hard to keep track of later postings so thanks Steve for flagging this up. Sadly I am in a similar position so sending you a huge hug! I have asked Alan, a few weeks ago, if there can be a section in Health Unlocked for OC terminally ill people and I think they are hoping to add a new section at some time. None of us want to scare the wits out of anyone else facing this surgery but at the same time we would welcome the support of others, well I would anyway:-) there are some really lovely people on this site aren't there and it really helps to feel less alone when you can get messages of support and good vibes. I'd love to hear from you Kimmy, if you read my blog you'll see where I am with my situation. If you message me I can give you my phone number if you fancy a chat. Hold in your heart that we have today and some how we will find the strength to make the most of each one.

Love

Charlie xx
