I think I may have a Hiatus Hernia. Does this affect the bowels as well as the stomach?

I had hiatus hernia and because it affects your digestive system then yes - you go from the runs to constipation . Diary your food and any problems you have with this . If it is bothering you then please see GP . I had to be persistent and insistent before I got hospital appointments and finally surgery which changed by life positively but need afterwards to follow what they advice you to eat and keep to liquid diet , weaning to solids and watch your weight . Before my op I had awful stomach but the worst was sleep deprivation.

basically HH means you’re stomach is in your chest. Women sometimes get from pregnancy and it can be permanent. Doesn’t necessarily impact bowel but can result in reflux. It can also happen via surgery for oesophageal cancer where the stomach is moved after part of the esophagus is cut out. The positioning of the stomach and the angle could affect bowel movement.
