Just an update from my last post. I had the 24hr ph test and it all came back normal. Now waiting to have c t scan. I am still having problems eating. Still the feeling I need to burp but cant tjen feel like air in stuck in my throat and food. Bad pains in chest and back all the time and dry mouth. Feeling really low as no-one seems to know whats wrong and its affecting my whole life. Lost 18 pounds in a month. Taking lansaprozole so no acid reflux now. Anyone else have these symptons and can give me any advice please

Thanks for the advice . No they havent checked it, do you think that would show up in a c t scan as thats what I am due to have. I will speak to the doctor thanks again
So sorry you have this. I have a similar feeling of dry throat, something been stuck constantly, etc. I had another EGD for EOE (allergic reaction) which was normal. Next step is manometry study. Have you done that? It will test the function of your muscles. Another test is barium swallow to see if things are moving correctly. I also suggest a thyroid ultrasound because if your thyroid is inflamed, it could be pressing on your esophagus causing that feeling. Lastly, a vascular issue which is what the CT is for. They found an aneurysm on my heart that is pressing on my esophagus, but hopefully for you that is not the cause. Another suggestion is a laryngoscopy and ask the ENT to look at your vocal cords because my friend had vocal chord syndrome where they would spasm and takes meds for it now. Lastly, if all this comes back normal, I would see a pulmonologist next or get a second opinion. Best of luck! I’m in this with you!
Hi you dont say what treatment you had. Im still unable to eat normal food months after radio/chemo. Ive got good tips for purees and soups but is this what you want? I still have very painful days. Have you been checked for thrush? Is a stretch an option?
Hi Shazzashark. Your problem sounds similar to mines. I had an endoscopy, which shows my
GOJ is not relaxing. With questionable Achalasia, I pray that this is not your diagnosis. I haven't had the barium swallow which they recommend, nor the ph test. I will try to do the barium swallow, but not brave enough for the ph test. Like you I've lost 20lbs, no reflux after coming off the lansoprazole. My chest pains are not that bad, but get dry mouth a bit, which I was told us dehydration. So try to drink as much water as possible. Please keep us updated on your progress and I pray you well. Linda
Just an update after numerous tests I have been diagnosed with LPR (silent reflux). Been told to carry on with lansoprazole and take gaviscon advance 30 mins after every meal for 6 weeks. Also low fat diet. Has anyone else been diagnosed with LPR and got any helpful tips. I have also been prescribed setralin for my anxiety as the swallowing issues is taking over my mind now and causing severe anxiety. Just not sure if these will help or make the acid worse.
