Pleural effusion is accumulation of fluid in the space between lungs and the chest cavity. This can be cause by multiple causes and depending upon underlying root cause and other aspects various treatments can be considered, from some antibiotic pills through to surgical intervention.

Why was he admitted to the hospital? Pleural effusion is very common and when treated in time should be normal pathaway. having said that PE is not a cause in itself and the root cause needs fixing.
