Esophagectomy surgery 10 days post-op

Hello kind people. I had my IL Esophagectomy surgery Aug. 16th. Everything has gone well and my lymph nodes that were removed did not have any cancer in them (YAY!). One thing I have been experimenting is night sweats. I wake up soaked in my bed clothes. I haven't determined if this is from surgery, the pain meds , or the removal of my lymph nodes. Any thoughts?

Hello this journey! Ah that’s brilliant news on all counts.. I’ve been thinking about you. I’m just coming up to 18months post IL surgery and I really can’t remember. I was still on a load of pain medication at that point. Your body has been through a lot so I wouldn’t worry too much. It sounds as though your doing great. We’re here for you if you need us. Sue x

I would ask your doctor. Could be meds. I was in ICU for 10 days after my surgery, am 5 years out now. The meds kept me in a fog for my stay but also do not remember any night sweats. Good to hear your nodes were clear.

Congratulations. I am approaching my 5 year surgical anniversary. It does get better

I would say the sweats are coming from the drugs. Stay on the drugs for now and live with the sweats.

Everything takes time to settle down. EVERYTHING! I wouldn’t be too worried. Just make sure you stay hydrated if sweating a lot.

Hi,Glad surgery went well. I am over 5years post IL don’t remember night sweats could be anxiety or meds. As long as you havn’t got a temperature I would say it’s your body adjusting.

Speak with your specialist nurse early days .

Good Luck

Debbie
