Thickening of Oesophagus in CR scan

Hello - needing some advice. I have had increasing symptoms of acid reflux/gerd for last 6 months. I have had mild reflux in past but not for any prolonged period. I have just had a CT scan that showed thickening of the oesophagus and they want me to have a endoscopy. Now terrified that this is OC. Can anyone advise?

Hello don’t know if I can give you much advice, the only thing I can say is don’t worry about the endoscopy, don’t know if you’ve had one before but nothing to bad, it sounds worse than it is, but please have the sedation , I had one without once and it was a horrendous experience , usually you would be getting food stuck if it was cancer , but I’m not saying it is or it isn’t cancer , good luck let me know how you get on 🤞🏻

Nothing to worry about I have done endo and colonoscopy thirty times I have been suffering from gastroesophagus disease called GERD and acid reflux the worst damn diseases u wan get but it’s good to do procedure at least you’ll be able to tell if you have cancer or not plus you might have a narrow esophagus like me I can’t even sleep if I eat what ever I get heart burn plus fire in my throat like you sizzling a bacon or drink water immediately I start spitting and try to get what ever is stuck in my throat they say take omeprazole but only for two months and it don’t work for me but my advise to you and m not a doctor but I know more than they do because it’s my body and I know what I go through pain and the rest . I drink caraway tea anise tea black tea and I take pure honey cause honey will help increase and wounds you have in your throat or the food tube and cummin for bloating look for alternative meds but don’t leave ur doctor because you need them to do X-rays ctscans and much more

I agree with both the other 2 replies having an endoscopy is nothing to worry about, I always had the sedation, it doesn't knock you out and you know whats going on but I found it helped, problem is you cant leave for an hour after but you do get a cuppa and biscuits!I had stomach cancer 9 years ago and had my stomach removed, still suffer with swallowing issues and pain when eat plus regurgitation and spasms that I have accepted as part of who I am now. Not nunder the hospital anymore so get on with it myself. Good luck with the endoscopy and dont worry, the worst thing is the spray they use cant understand why they dont have it flavoured?
