Hi D4vie,

I couldn’t agree more. I had my surgery seven and a half years ago and owe my life to the fantastic team at Coventry University Hospital, especially the brilliant surgeon Mr. Marzouk. The NHS are being highlighted and applauded for what they are doing at the moment but before this were maybe taken for granted or sometimes criticised. I will never forget what they did for me and my family during a very difficult time.

Best Wishes, James.

Thanks James , it's good to know that there are many other people out there like me. I have questions about long term pain relief that I'll get to in due course but I'm currently working my way through all the info and posts.

Hi D4vie. Just to say I had a similar operation in Edinburgh 7 years ago. Couldn't have been looked after better. I am now fighting fit and lead a normal life, providing I remember not to eat too much at any one time!

Thanks for the reply it’s really pepped me up. It’s tremendous to know that you are seven years on and fighting fit. I could not put into words how much I appreciated the folk who looked after me in Edinburgh but did promise that The Best way that I could thank them was to live a long and full life And I will

You are so right, lots of the problems arise from trying to eat too much at any one time. You can get it in but the problems it causes passing through is not nice. I still do it sometimes even 10 years on.

Hi liz-crisp

Just wondering if you do not eat full, will you get enough nutrients which meant you cannot put on weight?

If you eat too much you overload your digestive system and it doesn’t really absorb much anyway. If you eat small portions or just graze gently all day you will let your digestive system recover and learn what to do again. It will be a while before you start to put on weight again Your system has to completely relearn what to do with food, how to digest it and store it etc. Just eat small amounts of food with a high calorie content. If you want instant energy eat a banana or some biscuits. Without any fat on your body you can’t build up muscle So you need to eat high fat foods to start with.
