Help and advise : Hi you all my husband... - Oesophageal & Gas...
Help and advise
Yes my husband was the same
Phone your chemo team for advice they can tweak the cocktail that the pharmacy makes up for him also they can organise prescriptions with your GP to counteract the sickness
My husband was given
METOCLOPRAMIDE to help the sickness
Hope this helps and dont worry the specialists have seen it all before and have a wealth of knowledge and understanding
Best wishes

Yes, same with me I could only take 2 rounds of chemo prior to op, my wife tried to tempt me with all sorts of tasty morsels, to no avail but when the chemo stopped and I was in the 4-5 week recovery prior to the op, my appetite returned and now 19 months post op I eat 3 meals a day and anything goes, curry, fry up, toast etc.
good luck
Jeff
Wow I'd like to get a full meal in pete without being sick he has days where he can eat and days when he carnt he has just had a day of keeping his food it's just persevere and anything goes today is his last chemo tablets so hopefully he will be ok for his operation that's supposed to be on 16th march hopefully they won't change that as he is very anxious about it and is just getting his head around it
Tell him to go for it with open arms, up hills and down hills on the journey but it works, the surgeons are fantastic, I had my Ivor Lewes op performed by keyhole surgery, just a few small scars. He has to stay positive, and get as fit as possible between now and 16th march, and keep using the lung function toy.
It is hard but it works ! there are so many survivors from this terrible cancer, remember there is a light at the end of the tunnel and he can continue to live with some adjustment, he must also remember that he is one of the lucky 30% who are able to have this op to remove this cancer 100%.
Good luck to you both, he will need you during and after the op, recovery is slow but day by day, week by week things do improve, Honest !

Hi yes i think we all go through this ask your CNS /Hospital for something. It can be physiological foods remind you of treatment whilst on chemo and after. Try different foods. My op was 4 years 16th march. Luckily came through it I have had ups and downs and new relationship with food. Keep positive.
Best wishes
Debbie
Unfortunately this is all normal. My husband had 3 rounds of chemo prior to Ivor Lewis on March 7th last year. It’s tough the relationship with food changes due to chemo /op then more chemo post surgery. Is a struggle but persevere...good luck for his future op .
