Dumping is clarion of vast symptoms and bowels emptying after meals is a dumping syndrome. OPA has downloadable booklets if I am correct, perhaps time to show these to your GP.....
Hi Mauser1905
Thanks for your prompt reply ,any idea where i look for the dowloadable info.
The opa download link as below
"Dumping A sensation known as Dumping Syndrome occurs when the food you have eaten passes rapidly through the system and may give rise to some of the following symptoms: dizziness, possibly fainting, feeling very hot, sickness and pain in the abdomen. Diarrhoea or frequent bowel movements may follow. It can be unpleasant and distressing, but is not serious and generally the frequency of attacks becomes less. The effects normally disappear in half an hour or so. For Oesophagectomy patients it generally occurs an hour or more after eating (late Dumping). Those who have had a gastrectomy may be more prone to dumping, and this may occur sooner after eating (early Dumping). In late dumping the sugar content of the food or drink causes insulin to be released by the pancreas.Aslightexcessofthisgivesrisetothefeelingsandsomepatientshavefoundthat quickly having a glucose tablet or sweet can relieve the symptoms. Hi I would say if it goes after 2 weeks it is just a tummy bug. If it prolongs watch what you are eating and drinking especially together. Watch the sugar, fat and how much you are eating. I take creon with my food which does help dumping but prescribed by the hospital dietician.
Best wishes
Debbie
I would say it is dumping, I get it more often if I have eaten a lot, (too much at once) it drunk more with my meal or moved around too soon after eating. The food is in the wrong place and the gut fills with water to move it on feels quite uncomfortable, lots of gurgles and then watery diorreahea. It may also be a sort of blockage, I have a U bend in my gut where food hangs and gets hard. This causes problems sometimes and I end up with watery diorrhea as it’s all that passes through and a lot of trapped wind. I take lactolose syrup which helps sort it out but do ask your CNS if it persists.
I don't think it is dumping. I could be a lactose intolerance as I have the same issue. Take "Lactaid" pills before you have any dairy and that might clear the problem up. It did for me.
I am also very interested in the replies as, following I L 18 months ago I have started to have more 'dumps' with gurgling and wind following our evening meal, a small cooked breakfast and light lunch are fine but a cooked supper can cause problems.
I realise this is not any help but as they say, 'you are not alone'
Jeff
