Three and a half years after Alan’s OC operation he still has quite a lot of pain in his lower back and area in the right side of his back where they cut to get in to remove the cancerous cells etc. Do you think this is common? He had his last check up in August and is now down to annual checkups. He did have shingles a year after the op and that’s part of the area that’s giving him discomfort. He’s just had blood tests and nothing showed up other than slightly high cholesterol.
Back pain (lower back/right side) 3.5... - Oesophageal & Gas...
Back pain (lower back/right side) 3.5 years after OC op.
I had similar problems but my specialist nurse put me on anitrypoline pills which did the trick eventually. It does take a long time.
I am 9 years passed the op & only just stopped getting niggly pains.
I am 10 months post op and my back and side are still unreal sore.
From what I read in here it seems like a lot of people have ongoing back pain.
If its lower back then is it underlying issue or because of the use of pillows posture etc?
Shingles affected area does have pain in the later time also.
We saw the consultant on Thursday. He said that Alan’s weight is good, colour is good, he’s generally doing well. He said that the pain is most likely typical musculoskeletal pain post IL op. Also, the fact that Alan had shingles 18 months after his op, with the shingles targeting the area around the op cut, it could be connected to that too. He’s arranging a CT scan but stressed that more ‘sinister’ causes are unlikely. So, as always, fingers and toes crossed + positive thinking and enjoying each day as it comes. I have to admit that I seem to worry much, much more than Alan does. Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply and offer support. It is very much valued, particularly when I waked at 2/3 in the morning - the time when the doubt monsters have fun with my brain!
Had the same feeling as its muscle nerve pains. Glad you found some relief. Now back to the weekend.
