Does this ever go away it's really starting to effect me; struggle to breath certain times of the day mine seems to random aswel not just after I ate; except in morning always worse in the morning

I would suggest you return to your GP and ask to be referred to have an endoscopy so your problem can be identified and the appropriate course of action taken.

Your issue is not uncommon within this community so it is best to get it resolved as soon as possible.

Hi Dean, change doctors mate. Ask for a ent. Keep trying to find answers. It could be silent reflux, vcd or airway reflux. Its horrible, mines just going down abit, life style changes is the best.

Sleep with a wedge pillow and try not to eat anything 4 hours before bed. It does take time to heal

What did you do to reduce yours?

Hi judley. Life style changes and diet worked the best. I stopped clearing my throat all the time about 2 weeks ago, thought it would never end. Haven't had acid reflux for a few months now, that is definitely down to diet and not eating before bed. I ask the doctor to reduce my ppi down to 15mg as I don't want to be taking them forever. I also started running about 4 months ago. It takes time, faith and patience.

That's great, I have done everything, even bought Dr Aviv's book Acid Watcher, lost weight, bought a wedge pillow, changed diet. It is less but still there, so fed up. You start worrying it's something else. Worry about reduction in ppi as you can get that rebound affect

One doctor thought I had copd because of the shortness of breath but I kept telling him it's in my throat. I changed doctors and my new one is really good. I think when you been on a high veg diet for a while it's OK to slowly come down in ppi. Talk to your doctor and see what they say

MFH's comment, you can't do better than what he suggests.

Hello Dean, Don't let anyone tell you you are making it up. I have suffered with the same issue for 5 months. While almost continuously hospitalised. The burning pain was just as you described and on top of that I was gipping , often bringing up food and medication. I was tube fed to prevent me from slowly starving to death. down to 32 kg. My entire team had no idea what was the matter with me as everything inside me had healed up, though I am minus stomach, spleen and part of pancreas.

About 10 days ago my team consulted the palliative team. And even though I did not really qualify for that category, they came up with a wonderful treatment. A syringe drive pump that feeds 3 drugs continuously into my body and has to be replaced daily. The drugs are painkillers and anti emetics. I feel much better now, have gained 5 kg in weight and came home 2 days ago. I am not claiming that I don't have moments of the old issue, but they don't last. All I have to do sit quietly, sip a tiny amount of milk and wait till it goes away.

Of course, this pump is only a temporary measure - 5 -6 weeks, but it will give me time to recover a little. Perhaps this could be an option for you. Keep us posted.
