My surgery was for the dreaded cancer of the oesophagus, and when I came round I could do nothing for a while.
Don't despair, generally things will get better but it always takes time and we are always impatient to get better.
I should think your body has had quite a bashing with double pneumonia and sepsis, and being effectively shut down for a couple of weeks. you were probably kept under with drugs.
I can't give you any advice about knee ops and recovery other than having my cartilages removed and the recovery from that which did take some time, but the improvement in the long term was incredible. So do your best to be as positive as you can and start off gradually with the exercises etc and things will improve.
Hope your lungs are OK after the pneumonia, so you'll probably have to do breathing exercises as well.
After surgery the best thing you can do in self help is to try and have a positive attitude it will be very much better for your recovery.
