Done well and now thyroid problem

8 months post operation. Feel I have done well up to now but following recent stretch and botox and follow up CT scan which has come clear for chest and abdomen I have now been referred to ENT surgeon for large rectosternal goitre, which I understand from a quick visit to my Dr. as thyroid related. This hadn't been identified before during many scans - I have my 3 month check in a fortnight so hope to get more information then. Just wondered if this has happened to anyone else? A bit nervous at the moment.. :( Following stretch in early January I have now started to have minor eating problems again - pain after eating and sometimes sickness which my surgeon has said may happen and may need a repeat stretch. I have also noticed that I get very very hot several times a day, thought I went through this years ago!! but am wondering if this is now thyroid related!

It is not uncommon to have more than one problem at once but sometimes things seem to conspire against you don't they! I think the doctors should be able to separate out the thyroid issues from any post-surgery eating problems, but it might be an idea to let the hospital know to double-check in advance of your appointment so that the surgeon has access to the other specialist's findings and can advise you.

If the thyroid issue results in surgery, the two surgeons might need to collaborate.

The additional stretch should be uncomplicated.

I think that feeling hot is much more likely to be the thyroid issue, but it is only the doctor who can tell you for sure.
