Hi I have had my medication changed from Omoprazole to Lansoprazole 30mg once a day but it only helps for about 8hours then the acid starts so i take it at night so i am able to sleep but somedays i am constantly taking Gaviscon Advanced liquid...does anyone know if it would be ok to take one twice a day? hoping this would stop the acid

I had exactly the same problem and switched to 1 x15mg in morning and 1 x 15mg in evening and it has worked fine for me with an occasional swig of Gaviscon when necessary (but thats not often). Hope that helps. Philip

Hi Margie

I take Omepraozole, but Lansoprazol is a PPI which works the same way in inhibiting acid. We all react differently to medication so your doctor is obviously finding one that suits you best.

I take 10mg in the morning and 20 mg at night with Gaviscon as and when I feel I need it. I have just had my four year check up and my surgeon is happy with the way I use my Omeprazole, and as he says I know better what I need to give me a better quality of life, so maybe you could talk to your clinician about taking Lansoprazole twice a day.

Hope this helps

Love

Several years ago I switched from taking 40mg of Omeprazole each morning and split it with 20mg morning and evening (usually before I eat). I supplement this at night with a good dose of Gaviscon Advance before going to bed. I have had the occasional vile attack of acid or bile in the night but by and large it works for me. Never quite sure why but I was told that there should be at least a one hour gap between the Omeprazole and the Gaviscon.

I have been told 2 hours and im not sure why either lol maybe i will ask my oncologist when i see her ...if i remember as my memory is terrible since chemo lol xx

Hi Margie

I am on Lansoprazole and I take 30mg 2 x daily, 1 in morning and 1 in evening. I have certainly found it beneficial to take it twice a day. It has improved things a lot. It has also reduced need to take additional Gaviscon or similar xx

Hi Margie,

My doctor (GP) told me to experiment with different formulas until I found what suited me. I did that, and I've found that 30mg in the morning half an hour to an hour before food, and 15mg ditto in the evening work well for me. I haven't felt the need yet for Gaviscon or similar. That could change though. Meanwhile, it's just a matter of finding what works best for you.
