Im eating cause I know I have to but could quite happily have nothing. Try to have fortisip drinks and things with complan in but they tend to go straight through me. I also have no energy always tired resting a lot on the bed. Will it ever get better? I know it worries my wife extremely. Just need a little reassurance.

Hi - I could not tolerate fortisip after my opp and the nurse was not surprised so not to worry about that (my opp was september 2011)

I understand the feeling about eating but it will gradually improve in time

My wife suggested I had a small glass of red wine before eating and that did stimulate my appetite and also found stronger tasting food helped - now I can eat most things and do feel hungry where at one time, like you, I could have quite happily given up eating.

My wife too worried and still does if my weight drops a bit and it is very difficult to gain weight

I am sure others will tell you that it is a long road back to "normal" life so try to be patient and bear that in mind when things get you down

regards and good luck

Mick

I so agree with all that has been said, the road is hard and slow but reward is getting back to living your life with your wife and family, I went back to work a year after my opp which was jan 2012 and back to work jan 2013 even that was like starting out again, so take your time as they say on here we are the little and often club members.

Thinking of you all. Tina x

Hi Col

Yes it will get better. I am 7 and a half years post op and now not far off my pre op weight and can also manage a normal size meal. I can remember those early days and trying to stomach that awful fortisip, they used to give me stomach cramps. So I started to try things I used to really enjoy but that didn't help lol because my tastes had changed and that happens to a lot of people who have had this op, so I tried things I would not have eaten before because I used to try and eat healthy. I found that I really loved fresh cream and chocolate which is great because it helps you get a bit of meat back on your bones, I now eat pretty much what I like, chillies, curries you name it,but I am lucky some people do have problems with certain things. so in my experience it does get better. I hope this is of some help, keep your chin up and your wife's too.

Kind Regards

Steve
