No I have not but do occasionally feel sick after eating, not as much as I did I the early days, however I now take a spoon of gaviscon and most times it helps me.

I didn't try it, but I definitely would have done if it had been suggested to me after my op. I felt sick constantly for about 4 months and it was a really bad time for me. I had every sickness tablet available and I know (although it was never said to me personally) there were people around me including the doctors that thought it was psychological. The good news is it did eventually go away and I was able to go back to work 7 months after my op. I wish you well! Julie

The sickness thing is so awful. I didn't have hypnotherapy, but I had been having acupuncture for another issue, and he asked how my stomach was, as he saw it wasn't working properly. So I had acupuncture for that as well. Very few days I feel nausea now. Only when I over eat or hot drinks. I am sick when I don't chew food properly. Awful when you love your food I do. It wouldn't hurt to try it though. What do your oncology team think? Good luck, I hope it works for you.

Thks Jeannie probably give hypnotheraphy a try cant have acupuncture just yet still have pro op chemo. oncology team said might be worth a try but don't not of anyone who has had it.

I know somebody who had hypnotherapy for a couple of sessions because she complained that everything tasted like cardboard, and then all of a sudden she was eating duck and orange from Waitrose. So it can work for some people.

Hi,

Hypnotherapy can work, I've not seen or heard of it being used to counteract sickness feeling but do know of a couple of people where it has worked very well for the fear of eating after surgery, it may be that feeling sick was part of the fear.

Acupuncture also can work in many cases.

I take it that you have spoken to your hospital team about this, there are many different ways of taking sickness tablets and even trying different times of the day to take them may also help.

Kind regards,

Dave C

Hospital team say don't know of anyone who has had it. But cant see why it shouldn't be tried.

RSCH in Guildford does look at the alternatives and did arrange one of the hypnotherapy sessions which was successful.

Hi, I suffered dreadful nausea with the post-op chemo, and the medics explained that it's a mixture of physical symptoms and psychology. I tried all sorts of drugs and nothing worked, I just tried to sort of sleep through those 10 days of nausea each cycle.

I considered trying hypnotherapy and would certainly give it a go if I have to have chemo in the future.

Good luck, Hilary
