Welcome to the OCD community on HealthUnlocked

Welcome to the OCD community here on the pages of the HealthUnlocked website.

The OCD community here will be moderated by the volunteers and team from OCD-UK. What makes OCD-UK suitable to be moderating your community? Simple, all of us have experienced OCD first hand, we have lived with it, and in some cases come through the other side and are now free of OCD. We want to be able to guide you through the maze of termanalogy and accessing treatment.

The point of the OCD community is to provide a space where you can share your experiences, support one another, and become better informed about OCD.

Feel free to start commenting and asking questions even now and we’ll do our best to respond as quickly as possible.

Ashley

on behalf of the team at OCD-UK

Hi team,

I am new on here because I was seeking info for myself even though my husband has OCD for most of his life, I have lived with him with it for several years now and I am still learning the complexities of just his OCD.

I have read through a good few of other peoples posts and replied to two this evening because of a feeling of wanting to offer advice.

I have suggested to one person the art of meditation. I wanted to put a link to a particular meditation that I use daily but was not sure if that would be allowed or considered good practice?

I have told her I would ask you first if it was O.K or not to do that.

I wonder if it's something that any of the team have considered using or already meditate themselves? I am interested in knowing your thoughts about it and if you felt it to be beneficial?

Please let me know if you think a link to the meditation is O.K.

It is available on Youtube and it's free.

Regards,

Andi Tointon.

Hi team, my name is Paula ; I am new here. I have had OCD for24 years , I have been to Springfield university hospital five times the last time was four years ago which as a disaster compared with the fourth admission in 2011 and I did achieve 85percent but that lasted me a whole year as a completely different personn but then I relapsed and it has now deteriorated a lot to the piint where I am housebound and nobody wxcept my parents can come in and as a result I have now been taken off the books by my psychiatrist for the second time in 12 months because I didnt wish to go into a residential care home agaim thats all they could offer me because they dont have the expertise in my area. They tried flooding me which didnt work . Dr Lynne Drummond said I cant go back to Springfield a ixth time and doesnt think I would manage at the Bethlem Royal hospital either but I am eilling to give it a go. I dont know how to get back on the Psychiatrists books again to persuade him to refer me to the Bethlem but there wont be anyone here experienced enough to follow up?
