Contamination OCD

Hi, sorry to vent on here again, but the window cleaners came this morning, and as we live in a ground floor flat, the bedroom window is at the front and bushes are in front of the window I have heard cats in the bushes sometimes and have convinced myself there must be cat poo there. I suffer from contamination OCD and my husband had to pay the cleaners so now I feel he is contaminated with cat poo because he went near to the window cleaners who have to go into the bushes to get to the window. I know it sounds pathetic but it really panicked me terrible. I have now stopped them cleaning the front windows but dog and cat poo terrifies me and I really don’t know why. Ocd is a miserable and soul destroying disease, as many of us know to well. Sorry again for the rant x

It really sucks. Try not to ruminate over it too much. One technique I learned involves refusing to worry about the contamination or whatever now, but allowing yourself to do so at a given time, say half past four. Half past four comes and goes and you've forgotten all about it!

It isn't always that easy, particularly if you're really concerned about something being contaminated, but it is effective.

Really try not to worry about animal poo. People live in the countryside with lots of animal poo and are healthy for it. I'm not saying anyone should go out of their way to touch it, but don't worry about it.
