I suffered with damage for 15 years. Tried everything!! The only thing that ultimately worked was a total knee replacement. Had it 4 years ago! Best thing I ever did! Sorry I waited so long!! I fooled around with pain clinic and shots, gels, etc. don’t wait too long! Orthopedic doc said she was shocked at how bad my knee was!!

Hi thanks for responding I was due to have a double knee replacement in January but unfortunately I had a heart attack back in June last year and was told by the anethnatist it was too risking and I will have to wait until after June this year ie., one year after my HT so I have at least six months more to wait!! The pain is awful and my mobility is being hampered I try to exercise most days but it’s hard!! Thanks again for your response and glad to read your knee replacement is a success!! .

I have the same thing in both my knees. I just had Hyalgon injections in both. This is the third time for my right knee & first time for my left knee. The last times I had them done they helped for 3 years each. A total of 6 years for my right knee. I’m not sure if it’s helping my right knee anymore. I’m still getting sharp aching pain in it. I originally tore the meniscus in it 6 years ago & when the doctor went in to remove the torn part he told me I had stage 4 arthritis in it. He said eventually I would need a knee replacement. I take Celebrex, Move Free, Tylenol Arthritis ER for pain. Sometimes I take a prescription pain med for the pain but I try not to go there. I’ve also had steroid injections in my knees. I also have it in all my other joints.

Hope this helps you.

The best pain medication is an opioid for severe osteoarthritis which your doctor can prescribe with your insistence. It's no joke suffering that type of pain without tackling it properly. Trying all the 'over the counter reliefs' will only confuse you in trying something that's not strong enough. I suffer badly from severe arthritis but with proper treatment, that I particularly know will help, helps.
